30.5.12 Pokémon | Banned episodes

There's total of 5 episodes in pokémon that are banned. Some are for stupid reasons, and some are really serious.

Banned 1 - Episode 18: Holiday at Acopaulo (US Name: Beauty and the Beach)
This episode was banned because they gave James clevage so he could win a beauty contest. This took over a lot of the episode which is why when KidsWB (US kids channel) aired a cut version of it, it was horribly mutilated and severely cut in time.

Banned 2 - Episode 35: The Legend of Dratini
This episode was banned because of over use of a projectile weapon, other eps use Guns but none involve the firing of guns towards other people. In the US there were many shootings by children and it was thought best not to subject children to this sort of thing. The lack of this episode also caused a lot of confusion as there were multiple captures by Ash in it which by going by the US airings... just magically appeared.

Banned 3 - Episode 38: Electric Soldier Porygon
The most famous of the banned episodes, banned everywhere in the world including Japan. During the episode when Ash and co. are with Porygon in Cyber Space, missiles get fired at them from Team Rocket. Pikachu blasts the missiles with Thunderbolt causing a flashing of red and blue which put 800 Japanese children (in the real world) into hospital with epileptic seizures. After this the show was put on a 4 month hiatus and was almost totally banned with Nintendo to be blamed for it.

Banned 4 - Episode 252: The Ice Cave
The first episode in almost 4 years that was banned; banned due to some people having a problem with Jynx being a "racial stereotype" and since Jynx was prominently in these episodes, they decided not to air it wtf.

Banned 5 - Episode 377: Shaking Island Battle! Barboach VS Whiscash!!
It was originally postponed due to massive earthquakes in the area and since it features Whiscash making earthquakes so it would have been bad taste. However, this episode was scheduled for a further Japanese showing but didn't air. Now it has come to the US airing and it again has been skipped.

Of course I'm getting the most interesting one to talk about! Episode 38.
A pokémon series caused something so damn serious?! Are they serious? They are.. I went to check around and now I know why. Epilepsy is a brain disorder in which clusters of nerve cells, or neurons, in the brain sometimes signal abnormally. In simple words, it's when your brain wire go the wrong way. You can watch this banned episode somewhere which I don't really feel like saying because I might be the one causing people to be admitted to the hospital because of this. At first I don't understand how a innocent show can cause such serious shit and decided to watch it myself.

It happens that when Pikachu uses thunderbolt on that "toy" pokémon called Porygon, resulting a flashing red and blue which provoked the nerves in our brain causing it to signal abnormally. Sounds like nothing much I know. But the flash is continuous for few minutes, that's why it provoked the nerves in the brain!

Bet many people are very curious after reading this. So if you wanna watch it, go search "Dennō Senshi Porygon", click on the wikipedia, there should be a small video down there, do not go fullscreen for this. If you're scared of getting epileptic attack after watching, hit the play button and hit pause immediately, drag the thing on the timeline through the whole video to see what's going on.

Be warned, an epileptic attack can cause headache, dizziness, unconsciousness and a lot more serious shit so be careful of... flashing stuff in general.

So this is how people in the news of them dying because of online gaming. Mystery solved?
One thing I don't understand, why did they draw the flashing shit after the thunderbolt Pikachu produced?
